Moira Room

The Moira room is our 4-year-old Kindergarten program and caters to a maximum of 24 children aged 4 years to 5 years, in their year before Prep. Your kindergarten child is led by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher and three primary Educators. The large indoor play space is complimented by a connected veranda area and direct access to the playground, which supports the flexible indoor/outdoor routines implemented at the centre.

Throughout their year in Kinder 4, your child will have many opportunities to refine the skills and knowledge they have and develop new ways of learning, thinking, and doing things. Your child will be encouraged to express their individuality and personal preferences while also developing their social awareness and feeling of belonging to the group.

Many educational projects will develop as part of the curriculum that will give your child opportunities to engage in learning activities such as role play, storytelling, painting and other visual arts and crafts, music, group games, drawing and writing, puzzles and problem-solving, experimenting, climbing, digging, and running; the possibilities are endless.

Other programs in Kinder 4 include Bush Kinder, Auslan and Punjabi Language programs and a range of incursions/excursions across the year.

Everyday routines and experiences are used as a catalyst for developing children’s literacy and numeracy awareness and understanding. The Educators will support your child to express their creativity and develop confidence in their identity.

Educators work in partnership with children to support and extend their ideas and abilities. The social nature of Kinder 4 helps your child work together with classmates to negotiate and reach common goals, to develop communication skills and to explore the benefits and expectations of social life. Appreciation of cultural diversity features strongly throughout the curriculum as children share their life experiences and family backgrounds and learn about those of their peers and Educators.

Throughout the year, the program will be inclusive of developing skills such as pre-writing, letter sounds, writing their names, and working on skills such as confidence, self-esteem, and their independence.
